Arauca, Casanare

Arauca

Perhaps with more in common with neighbouring Venezuela, including the frenetic traditional joropo dance, Arauca is a city located on the Ruta de los Libertadores –Bolivar’s route in 1819 when he marched from Venezuela into Colombia on the quest for independence– with a strong Llanero heritage.

Casanare – Yopal

The capital of Casanare is located in the foothills of the Eastern cordillera, the principal industries here are agriculture and cattle farming but ecotourism is becoming a steadily increasing option with people drawn to accessible areas of gallery jungle, unspoiled lakes and possibilities of ethno tourism. Is one of the best places in Colombia for spotting wildlife. Stay at any ecolodge and find the amazing environment of Los Llanos and its typical culture.
